36 Days of Type

The only time I’ve taken part in a lettering trend or community was a couple of years ago, when I decided to join 36 Days of Type. I think this exercise was the first step toward trying to draw letters more often — not with any final goal in mind, but simply to learn and have fun with the process.

These are the different typographic illustration exercises I created daily in Procreate. There isn’t a specific conceptual connection between each letter, aside from the shared color palette. Every day, the inspiration came from somewhere new — from graffiti to the pattern of the tiles in my grandmother’s house.

In the end, I took things a bit further: I combined some of the letters into short phrases and created a series of poster and postcard mockups to bring them to life in the digital world.
