Can I make you some tea?

Hi, I’m Daniela Paz — a Chilean graphic designer who’s been lucky enough to work in a few different corners of the world. I studied advertising design in Santiago, then moved to Buenos Aires, where I worked as a designer for the first time. During the pandemic, I ended up in Mexico, and after a year working with agencies there, I decided to try my luck and applied to a studio in the U.S.

Since then, I’ve worked with agencies and creative teams throughout Latin America, North America, and the UK — experiences that have all influenced the way I approach design. I’ve spent about a decade in the design and advertising world, with a focus on branding. I draw inspiration from illustration, art, pop culture, photography and reading. Right now, I'm also studying a Master’s in Branding Strategy and Identity, because I like understanding not just how things look, but why they should exist and communicate the way they do.

Outside of client work, I care a lot about personal projects and collaborating with NGOs — especially initiatives that support access to art and education. Lately, I’ve been pushing myself to develop my illustration and lettering practice, and exploring animation as a storytelling tool.

I’m a big fan of mistakes and hands-on practice. I completely fall in love with a project when the process itself keeps giving me new insights or teaches me things I hadn’t noticed before. That’s probably why I try to stay away from AI-driven “shortcuts” in my process — I like taking the time to go from A to B without skipping steps.

Fun facts about me:

  1. Working in advertising permanently ruined changed the way I watch movies — once you notice product placement, you never unsee it.

  2. I firmly believe that any of the Rocky movies has great editing and cinematography. Rocky IV is basically an anime — emotionally and structurally.

  3. I love graphic novels, and Daredevil is my favorite superhero (no debate needed).

  4. After learning that cooking played a key role in human evolution, I started cooking with more intention.

  5. I really admire crafts and people who can make beautiful things with their hands. I aspire to be one of those people one day.

  6. I drink a lot of tea. Like, statistically significant amounts. Per capita consumption in my country is 400 cups per year so that makes Chile top 5 in the world for tea consumption.
