Club de Discos, an online vinyl shop, commissioned a graphic piece that would combine a pop culture symbol with some of their team’s favorite albums. Not long before, I had bought a small Godzilla figurine at a market in Mexico City, and it had been sitting on my desk ever since. That little figure sparked the idea for the illustration: a giant Godzilla taking a break from destroying Tokyo to listen to his favorite records — including Juan Gabriel (my favorite), Sleep, John Coltrane, Black Sabbath, and Westside Gunn.
The illustration was then turned into a poster and a set of postcards, both printed in single-color risograph. I also created a stop-motion animation for social media to announce the collaboration.
